Obsessed people may dream of a pill that lets them to lose weight without any exercise or controlling their diet. But the fact is that there are no such magic diet pills. But it’s true that medical science has successfully proved that a proper diet pill with a less calorie diet and a bit of regular exercise can be very effective for obese patients in reducing it. Most weight loss medicines work by making you less hungry which means fewer intakes of calories over that the exercises help you in burning those extra fats. A generic drug Phentermine is gaining continuous success in this context. Approved by FDA in 1959, it acts as a natural food suppressant. Clinical trials say that this drug really goes well with a controlled diet and a daily exercise regimen.

One of the biggest concerns for anyone considering a Weight Loss Drug is its safety. Being cautious is an understandable policy. We should understand the fact that any medication carries risk. Though Phentermine causes headaches, dry mouth, raise in pulse and blood pressure, but scientists says that the safety records for Phentermine diet pills are high and the risk of side effects are low. The side effects are mild and gradually improve with continued treatment.

The amount of weight loss for each individual varies from each other. But on an average scale obese person loses upto 10% of their body weight within a year. Generally a person tends to lose more weight within the first six months and then it slows down.

Phentermine Diet Pills are branded for short term management of obesity. It is not yet found whether these medications are safe to continue for a long time. However treatment for obesity with Phentermine will be most successful if a plan is taken in consultation with a reputed doctor. The treatment will depend solely on an individual’s obesity level and over all health and his/her motivation to lose weight.

What is Phentermine?

Phentermine is a stimulant that is similar to an amphetamine. Phentermine is an appetite suppressant that affects the central nervous system.

Phentermine is used togther with diet and exercise to treat obesity (overweight) in people with risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes.

Phentermine may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Phentermine Prescription
How should I take Phentermine?

Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label.

Taking high doses of phentermine over long periods of time can cause severe skin problems, sleep problems (insomnia), personality changes, and feeling hyperactive or irritable.

Take this medicine with a full glass of water.

It is best to take phentermine on an empty stomach before breakfast, or at least 10 to 14 hours before bedtime.

Phentermine should be taken only for a short time, such as a few weeks.

Do not crush, chew, break, or open an extended-release capsule. Swallow the pill whole. It is specially made to release medicine slowly in the body. Breaking or opening the pill would cause too much of the drug to be released at one time.

You may have withdrawal symptoms when you stop using phentermine after using it over a long period of time. Do not stop using this medication suddenly without first talking to your doctor. You may need to use less and less before you stop the medication completely.

Do not take phentermine in the evening because it may cause sleep problems (insomnia).

Stop taking phentermine if you have increased hunger or if you otherwise think the medication is not working properly. Do not take more phentermine for an increased effect. Taking too much of this medication can cause serious, life-threatening side effects.

Phentermine may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for. Keep track of how many pills have been used from each new bottle of this medicine. Phentermine is a drug of abuse and you should be aware if any person in the household is using this medicine improperly or without a prescription.

Store phentermine at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

Phentermine Prescription

Phentermine Side Effects

When you’re taking Phentermine, you should go to the emergency room if you experience any of the side effects listed below:

I) Allergic Reaction:

a. difficulty breathing

b. partial closing of the throat

c. lips, face, or tongue swell

d. hives (rash of red blotches)

e. abnormal heartbeat

f. extremely high blood pressure

g. extremely painful headache

h. abnormally blurry vision

i. hallucination

j. strange behavior

k. confusion

If you notice any of these less dangerous side effects of Phentermine, it is still alright to keep using your Phentermine prescription. However, you must make sure to let your doctor know about them:

II) Less serious possible side effects of Phentermine:

a. restlessness

b. shaking/tremors

c. nervousness

d. unusual levels of stress/anxiety

e. mild headache

f. dizziness

g. insomnia (trouble getting to sleep)

h. dry mouth

i. bad taste in your mouth

j. constipation

k. diarrhea

l. impotence

m. changes in sex drive

You should know that Phentermine can be addictive. This is probably due to the fact that your body gets used to the levels of neurotransmitters in the nervous system that are adjusted by Phentermine. I’m not sure about it though, since I’m no expert. That’s just what amateur (and brief, I must say) research has led me to believe. Anyway, you might grow to depend on it in both body and mind.

As with any medication that you’ve become even slightly addicted to, you could experience unpleasant side effects when withdrawing yourself from Phentermine use during at least several weeks. Before you stop taking your Phentermine prescription, please have a talk with your physician/doctor to see what the plan should be for gradual withdrawal.

In addition to the notes above, you should keep in mind that other side effects of Phentermine could occur, which have not been listed on this site. If you notice anything strange happening, please alert your doctor.
